How to complete a successful sale

Once your item has sold, there are a few simple steps you'll need to take to make sure the item reaches the buyer safe and sound. 

Payment via Trade Me 

To make things easy, if the buyer uses Ping, Pay Now or Afterpay, you'll also receive their address as soon as payment is made. We expect buyers to make payment within a week unless you've agreed on a different timeframe. 

If you're waiting on a specific detail (like their colour choice or size) that wasn't included in their delivery instructions, you'll need to email the buyer. We expect contact to be responded to within two working days. 

Once the money reaches your Ping balance or Pay Now account, you'll need to get their parcel out the door as soon as possible. It's best to let the buyer know once you've posted the item (and share any tracking information) to keep things running smoothly.

Payment outside Trade Me 

You'll need to contact the buyer directly to organise payment (including the shipping cost). If you don't have payment instructions set up yet, simply email the buyer with your details. We expect buyers to make full payment within a week unless you've agreed on a different timeframe. 

The buyer can choose to send their address through the site, or they may contact you directly. If you can't spot their details, you'll need to email them. We expect contact to be responded to within two working days. 

Once their payment has appeared on your end, and you have their address, you'll need to get their parcel out the door as soon as possible. Keep in mind, their payment could take a few working days to show on your end depending on how they paid.

Pick up 

Unless you've agreed to a different timeframe with the buyer, we expect them to organise and collect the item within a week of winning the listing. Both you and the buyer should respond to emails within two working days.
