General items
Most Marketplace categories are classed as ‘General items’. Stuff you’d find around the home and office.
- Free to list – unless optional extras are selected.
- A success fee applies for successful auctions.
- Run an auction, set a Buy Now price, or both. Learn more about listings.
- Relisting is free – any optional extras will be charged again.
Success fees
- Charged for successful auctions – including Make an Offer, Buy Now, or Fixed Price Offer.
- Deducted from your Trade Me account – when the listing closes with a buyer, or an offer is accepted.
- If a trade doesn't work out, apply for a success fee refund.

Depending on the animal you’re selling, the listing can be either a classified (with an asking price), an auction, or both.

Payment fees
If you sell an item using these payment methods, the following fees apply.
Ping
- 1.95% of the total purchase price, including shipping.
- Top Sellers receive a reduced fee of 1.65%.
Afterpay
- 4.95% of the total purchase price, including shipping.
Withdrawal fees
Listings can be withdrawn at any time – except during their final hour. Learn more.
