Problems contacting the buyer? Find out what to do.
When you sell an item, you can contact the buyer – to arrange things like payment and delivery.
Where to find the buyer’s email address:
- Sale confirmation email.
- Sold items – within 45 days of the listing closing (except classified listings).
Trade Me Messages
Messages is available on the Trade Me app (v108.2 or later) – for Marketplace and Motors listings in your Sold items.
- Open the listing from your Sold items in the app.
- Select ‘Message the buyer’.
- Open the listing from your Sold items in the app.
- Select ‘Message the buyer’.
To use Messages, download Trade Me for iOS or Trade Me for Android.
If Messages isn’t available, email the seller instead.
Payment instructions
Your payment instructions can be automatically sent to the buyer when a listing is won. If you haven't set these up yet – find out how.
You can also send payment instructions manually from your 'Sold' page.
Cancelling a trade
If you need to cancel a trade, contact the buyer to explain why.
If the buyer agrees to cancel, you can get your fees back online. If they don't agree to cancel, the trade needs to be completed.
